Our friend and volunteer,
Jay Vermetti, died on Friday,
February 27, 2009.
Jay brought with him boundless
enthusiasm and an
unquenchable work ethic.
He was 48 years old.
Jay did veterans' history
interviews and pioneered the
"Sports Talk" series, connecting
with coaches and students in
their pursuit of excellence in
athletics. In his first Group
program, Jay interviewed
parade-watchers at
Homecoming last fall.
On Friday afternoon, Jay
stopped in at the studio to
discuss his interviews of Park
District commissioners,
planned for Saturday, 2/28/09.
As he headed down the stairs
to go back to Miller's, he called
out, "It's great to be creative
again."
It was great to be around Jay,
and we will miss him.
